Like shooting fish in a barrel!

Today I bring you news of our continued adventures in WH space. During one of our Corporate Days we stumbled into a populated WH with a ton of sites available to run, including juicy gravimetric sites for our mining division!

Once we entered the WH we found an active POS inside. We place one of our pilots there cloaked ASAP to watch for any activity, and sure enough pilots start to log in.

While the whole point of these exercises is to teach our members how to survive the harsh environment of New Eden, I decided it was time for a lesson in how drag bubbles work! Which is setting up a anchorable warp disruption bubble a fair distance away from the WH (destination) keeping it in-line with the POS (source). Whenever someone would warp to the WH from the source, they would get sucked towards the bubble and would have to fly the distance towards the WH. Within moments of deploy two small bubbles, Orion and I got ourselves a present. The local WH resident decided to warp his Covert op to the WH and ended up in our trap. Without hesitation Orion and I locked up the ship and it was gone in a flash, leaving behind a pod, which was soon dispatched. Upon look at the killmail we saw the devastation we had caused this WH pilot as show in the following link,

http://eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=13423647

... One word comes to mind "OUCH"!

Now this is where the fun happens, quickly more pilots log into system (luck for us our scout had eyes on the enemy the entire time) the victim decides he doesn’t want our bubbles setup at the WH and warps two Heavy Dictors (HICs) an Oynx and Broadsword to the WH and starts shooting our bubbles. As we sit and decided if we should attack our scout reports that a carrier has shown up at the POS and is aligning to WH. Moment later our scout reports "Carrier has warped". Knowing we do not have enough DPS to even make the carrier pilot sweat the carrier lands on grid destroys our bubbles and proceeds to aggress our fleet. We quickly realize that isn’t much we can do to the carrier or his fellow HIC pilots so we leave the WH, but not before adding these pilots to our watch list.

Within a few minutes after we left the WH our carrier pilot (and POD victim) logs off.  Since there are plenty of riches to be had in the WH we decided to go back in, this time with more support and a small Caldari control tower.

After about 20 minutes of hauling and anchoring our scout spots the carrier again at the hostile POS and reports its starting to align, at this point we are half in WH and half outside of WH and I am still trying to get our POS setup. Within moments our scout reports the carrier has warped, but no one reports it being seen at the WH! A few moment later we get a report the carrier pilot has warped to our tower and attempts to engage, but to his surprise the tower was online and we had a number of ECM modules already active, he was quickly tackled!

We made a call out to some new local friends of ours the “Space Bastards" who surprisingly responded quickly to our Batphone call, also we put out a call to pilots in SRS alliance who decided to join fleet in hope to relieve our carrier pilot of his Chimera.

Now back at the control tower we get the impression our carrier pilot has made a mistake, he quickly release fighters and starts to aggress the ECM modules but just as quickly recalls his fighters and starts aligning to a planet! We start to lay down some DPS but we quickly realize to destroy the carrier we need a serious amount of energy neutralizers, we make a quick shout to our pilots but no one has a neutralizing ship handy!

Our carrier pilot starts to get worried and our scout reports activity at the POS, soon there after a Nighthawk and Broadsword appear on the field; I quickly call the Nighthawk primary and our pilots tackle and switch all DPS to the nighthawk within moments we had successfully removed our victim of another expensive ship!  http://eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=13423708

Now back to the carrier, without any energy neutralizers and with limited numbers the chances of our fleet destroying the carrier is low, being a crafty bastard I decide to send Jay back to empire and grab an energy neut battery for our POS. Upon returning to the WH and anchoring the module our carrier pilot starts to react!

He immediately starts to smart bomb and boost his shields we call the carrier primary and we start laying into the carriers shields, but even with the energy neutralization we still could not break his tank

After a few moments we soon realize our lack of DPS was because our tower was aggressing our friendly pilots in gang, preventing them from shooting the carrier. This was due in part to the fact I didn’t complete the setup of the tower prior to the carrier warping in (Opps, my bad) a few moments later our carrier pilot attempted again to free his carrier using a Scorpion! This time he was able to jam our tacklers and warp the carrier to safety, but left us the Scorpion as a gift! http://eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=13423644

Once the carrier pilot made it to his POS he quickly logged off, and Odyssey after only losing a few frigates during the engagement spent the rest of the day mining and discussing the events of the day, let just say it was good laughs had by all... well maybe not our victim!

Until next time!

Victor Twenty's 2 Cents: Tracking Disruptors on missiles!

Hello New Eden,

I have decided to start a new sub posting on this blog called "Victor Twenty's 2 cents", These posts will be dedicated to ideas and suggestion on how to make New Eden a better place for all.

Today’s topic "Tracking Disruptors on missiles!"

So after reading the latest Dev blog, CCP provided the below comment on this topic!

http://community.eveonline.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&nbid=42269

"We also wanted to update the Tracking Disruptors to affect missiles too, but the version we implemented was too limited (it only worked if you were flying certain ships and/or the enemy was using certain missiles). We haven’t found a good universal solution yet, so we’ll have to wait on this one."

As with most newer pilots in New Eden, I personally think there is enough EWar in EVE, but I can understand why they would want these changes, currently missile pilots have no fear of tracking disrupting ships such as the Amarrian recons.

My suggestion to CCP would be to have tracking disruptors affect two aspects of missiles.

1. Hit rate, with current game mechanics, missile users have no tracking, if you're in range missiles will hit their target without mercy. Why not have tracking disruption decrease the hit rate of missiles, similar to how disruptors affect the tracking speed of turrets, which causes them to miss their target. I understand that there is no hit rate mechanic in game for missiles but it can’t be that difficult to add. Maybe a skill or two to help decrease the effects of disruption. Also this would provide great visuals with missile flying past a target instead of hitting him, especially with CCP revamp to missile visual effects :)

2. Range of missiles, ranges of missiles is determined by "Flight Time" and "Velocity" of missiles, I think it would be the most realistic if tracking disruptors affected these attributes. This would decrease ranges similar to how they affect turret optimal and fall-off.

Well that's my two cents! Stay tuned for more additions!

A day of Wormhole Combat!

If you haven't already heard, Odyssey Space Exploration is headed into Wormhole space, over the past few weeks we have been finding wormholes in our home system.

Today, After our corporate day we decided to show some of our new pilots, Myself (Victor) included how we handle ourselves in combat. We got extremely luck with an afk prober we had spotted thru a connecting Wormhole, which I quickly destroyed and podded!

After some back and forth struggles over a total of four hours, the  pictures show the aftermath of our final engagement. At this point the defenders of the wormhole have grouped up a number of pilots which we could not match.

After reflecting on todays activities I would like to say to our victims of todays events "Good fights were had by all, very little smack talk, and alot of explosions made for an entertaining afternoon."

To my fellow pilots, I say this " We did a great thing today, not only did we engage in combat, but we did it outnumbered and out gunned, We did our very best, you have shown alot of courage and commitment, Thank you!"

Today I was reminded of inspiring words, I leave you with these words in the hope that they will not only inspire you as they did me, but empower you to do great things.

"There are more paths than one to greatness.

If you have intellect, you will survive the darkest days
If you have courage, you will claim the bounties of man and nature
If you have patience, you will amass the wealth of empires
And if you can lead, there is no limit to what you can become

What you dare to become rests on your will to be bold, dare to be bold, pilot."

Second Weekly Corporate operation!

For a second straight week, Odyssey Space Exploration pilots met under the hot caldari sun to lend a helping hand to its corproation.

This week we started off with some level 4 missions wth our friendly Caldari agent in our station.

As you can see we had some great turn out and some new ships in our fleet today! I guess our pilots really know the meaning of "MOAR GUNZ"!

But it wasnt all flashy lights and explosions, like the picture shows.

Our newer pilots had some intense moments but luckly no one lost any ships during our missioning operation.

Although I cannot say the same about the remainder of our Corporate day, we decided to start looking for a wormhole to explore or exploit its resources, we found a wormhole but it came with alot more excitment than expected.

Stay tuned for more updates!

Odyssey Space Exploration gets voice comms!

Today we added a Teamspeak 3 server to our corporation, we have already found it an improvement over EVE voice not only in quaility but during a client crash we are still about to communicate!

This tool is provided freely to our members, just one of the perks to joining Odyssey Space Exploration.

Corporation Day!

Today our corporation group together for our first "Corporate Day", this day was set aside for all our members to get together to generate some funds for the corporation.

As you can see from the posted pictures, it was a day of blasting NPC's out of the sky. I think we spent a total of four hours running missions!

MOAR GUNz!

In closing it was a very succesful day, not only did we group together for a common cause, we did it with style!
Thanks everyone for coming out and see you at our next "Corporate Day"

Expanding!

Hello New Eden,

It has been nearly a month since my last post, and what a month it has been, not only have we reached 14 pilots in the corporation we have successfully completed construction of an Orca. The industrial command ship will support our mining division, its a most welcome assest, sadly it wont be seeing space anytime soon! :)

We have also added a Fenrir to our logistics division, which provides increase hauling capacity to all divisions of Odyssey Space Exploration. Most importantly this ship opens up new solar systems for mining, allowing us to haul our ore back to our home system for refinement.

I would add a special thanks to Zhadu and Orion, they have put alot of effort into assisting the corporation, all of this sucess is thanks to your hardwork and dedication.

I shall finish off by saying we are still looking for new and skilled pilots alike, please join "OSEXP public" in game if you would like to learn more.

Also MOAR guns are always welcome!
